At Job&Talent, we are recruiting for a Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator to work with Columbia Marking Tools Inc. in Chesterfield. This role is essential for building precision engraving machines, requiring a skilled hand to machine short-run parts with high accuracy in a comfortable, air-conditioned shop environment.

Shift Patterns

  • Monday - Friday 6am to 2:30pm or 4:30pm
  • Occasional Saturday work required based on workload

Pay Rates

  • 23.00 - 29.00 USD hourly

Essential Requirements for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Proven experience operating a manual tool-room or engine lathe safely and accurately.
  • Must possess your own tools to assist with the mechanical building of machinery and parts.
  • Proficiency in precision measurement using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Strong ability to interpret machining drawings, blueprints, and tolerances.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining fundamentals.
  • Reliable attendance and availability for day shift hours with potential overtime.

Skills Requirements for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Experience selecting, adjusting, and maintaining cutting tools for optimal performance.
  • Basic machine maintenance skills for lathes and shop equipment.
  • Expertise in cutting internal and external threads.
  • Advanced measurement skills for handling tight tolerances and precision checks.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot machining issues.

Role for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Set up and operate manual engine lathes to produce 1-6 piece short-run parts.
  • Machine smaller round parts ranging from 1/4 inch to 6 inches in diameter, primarily using alloys and tool steels.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and cleanliness throughout the production process.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and work practices at all times.
