At Job&Talent, we are recruiting for a Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator to work with Columbia Marking Tools Inc. in Chesterfield. We are seeking a skilled professional to assist with building precision engraving machines. This role requires strong manual lathe experience, the ability to read prints, and the skill to machine short-run parts with accuracy in an air-conditioned shop environment.

Shift Patterns

  • 6:00AM- 4:30PM Monday thru Friday (with some overtime on Saturday when needed)

Pay Rates

  • 23.00 - 29.00 USD hourly

Essential Requirements for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Must have manual lathe experience: Proven ability to run a tool-room lathe safely and accurately.
  • Must have own tools to assist with mechanical building of machinery and parts.
  • Must have precision measurement skills: Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Must have blueprint reading ability: Capable of interpreting machining drawings and tolerances.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and tooling.
  • Must have reliable attendance: Consistent dependability for day shift with overtime.

Desirable Requirements for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Tooling setup experience: Ability to select and prep cutting tools.
  • Basic machine maintenance: Experience maintaining lathes or shop equipment.
  • Threading expertise: Skilled in cutting internal and external threads.
  • Advanced measurement skills: Comfortable with tight tolerances and precision checks.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot machining issues.

Role for Manual Tool Room Lathe Operator

  • Set up and operate a manual engine lathe to machine 1-6 piece short-run parts.
  • Read and interpret machining prints, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Machine smaller round parts ranging from 1/4" to 6" in diameter, primarily alloys and tool steels.
  • Select, adjust, and maintain cutting tools for optimal performance.
  • Maintain accuracy, cleanliness, and safe work practices at all times.

Location: Chesterfield. This position is based in an air-conditioned shop environment.
